Wildflowers & Seascapes - Hornby Island, British Columbia
May 2 – 7, 2009
Passport Required
Assisting instructor: Sharron Milstein
Hornby Island, the crown jewel of BC’s Gulf Islands, offers a rich visual palette to nature and landscape photographers. From dramatic sea-side bluffs to driftwood-strewn beaches and lush coastal forests, photographic subject matter abounds. Gentle woodland trails lead to shorelines distinctive for the fascinating shapes, textures and colours of the sandstone rock formations. Hornby Island is home to many birds and a varied population of marine mammals including blue herons, cormorants, bald eagles, harlequin ducks, sea lions, and seals. The warm days of early May bring forth a profusion of wildflowers. Shooting stars, fawn lilies, chocolate lilies, blue camas, lady’s slippers and many more beauties grace the inland meadows and grassy sea bluffs.
It gives me great pleasure to be working with Sharron Milstein, well known photographer, teacher and workshop leader. For years Sharron and I have tried to get together running a workshop and we’ve finally achieved that goal. Please join us.

Painted Hills, Oregon
May 16 - 19 2009
Painted Hills has been a favourite of mine – so I would like to share it with you. The colours of the hills are a photographer’s delight. The layers of volcanic ash display varying colours from red, orange, pink, bronze, tan and black and every colour in between. The hues vary in intensity with the ever changing light from early morning light to the evening light. AND if we are fortunate the little ‘bee’ flower will add a bright yellow flow of colour in the crevices.
Cost per person: $495.00
If you participate in both Smith Rock and Painted Hills workshops: Cost per person $ 670.00
Both of these areas (Smith Rock & Painted Hills) will give us lots of practise in doing panoramas, close-ups and honing our landscape photography skills.

Winter in Yellowstone
January 28—February 5, 2010
In the winter the park is a place touched by magic. It is a world hushed by a blanket of snow and where the trees become sculpted ‘ghosts’, waterfalls become encased in ice, mists and steam rising from the rivers create a mysterious atmosphere. It is a season alive with wildlife. Bison plow through deep snow in search of buried food, elk graze on grass still green from the hear near the hot pools and bubbling springs. We will explore the Geysers Basis where the backdrop of steam veils bubbling hot pools and thermal features. Floating in the rivers current your view finder will capture graceful trumpeter swans.
Cost: $2,375.00 includes transportation, accommodations.
